if you are the type of person who's ok with a not so happy ending,,, this book is for you. burned is seriously one of my all time favorite books, it was soo suspensful and heart breaking but for some reason i couldn't put it down intell the last page.it made me want to cry, to laugh, to cheer on the main character, it was just great. if you have read any of ellens books, you know who great they are, with the poetry style writing and the powerful words spoken and of course the touchy subjects the adults don't think us teens can handle, but we can and if you want to this is definitly the book to do it with.

This book is one of the most powerful things I've ever written. It's inspired something inside of me to go discover myself. This book is about a girl who nobody ever really sees, not at home, not at school. Then one little dream changes her entire exsistence. She finds herself attracted to boys for the first time, a sin for a Mormon like herself. And then a fight at school gets Pattyn shipped off to live with her aunt for the summer. There she discovers love, God and her true self. Everyone has their place in the world. This is the journey one girl went through to find hers. And it makes me want to find mine. If you haven't read this book yet, go out and find it.

I loved this book. It was amazing. I couldn't put the book down. This is a book I have made all my friends read! The ending I thought was amazing. I wanted more! I was crying with the way everything had happened to her. When I read the last page I turned it looking for more. I can't wait for more of Ellen Hopkins books she is a very talented writer!

Ok. So i thought this book was amazing!! I fell in love with Ethan from the moment they met. Literally, I wanted to fall in love like that too and find my Mr. Right. But then, in the end, it felt like someone stuck a needle in the story and deflated it completely. I think she is an amazing writer, but the ending was just too sad to bear. I couldn't believe it. I finished it in 2 days and while reading in school, I just had to show someone how deeply in love they were. So i showed my friend some excerpts and now she's reading it. This is a must read page turner, just skip the last 5 pages and make up your own ending.

As a high school librarian, I adored "Crank" and recommended it to every kid who was looking for an edgy read. "Burned" was choppy and the characters were underdeveloped by comparison. The ending seemed to slam the events together to force Pattyn into the climax the author intended. I didn't feel a real build to it. As for the religious aspects, domestic abuse can happen anywhere and the LDS seems to be an awfully easy target. I think the book will have an enthusiastic audience, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped I would.
