In a sweet and clever picture book from debut author-illustrator Coll Muir, two animals—a cat and a bird—wonder if they can be friends with each other, despite their predator-and-prey relationship.

This witty book tells a tale of a cat and a bird. Two animals who, according to the natural course of things, are not supposed to be friends—but does it have to be that way?

In his simple but brilliant art style, Coll Muir playfully conveys the idea that if you are different from somebody, it doesn’t mean that you can’t be friends and that even the most unlikely duo can manage to get along.

Akin to I Want My Hat Back and Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Coll Muir’s debut picture book feels like an instant classic friendship story!

This was an odd one.

Cat and bird are trying to determine if they can be friends or not. Each take their turn telling the other what they can do for each other. Eventually, they realize they can help each other find things they like, but that they don't like any of the same things so can't possibly be friends.
Until they discover their shared love of art.
The love of art came kind of out of left field, having zero to do with being a cat or a bird so it struck me as very strange.
Other than that, the images are cute and any story about a cat and a bird will enthrall young readers.

Final Verdict: An entertaining story about two friends that kids are sure to fall in love with.
