Meet Monty, a little frog who is afraid of water—and afraid to tell anyone about his fear. He’s not sure he wants to share his secret with anyone, but it’s been worrying him so much, he finally breaks down and tells the friendly reader of the book. Monty is told that going to his parents with his secret is the best idea, and although he’s nervous and it takes some time to work up to it, he finally does—and he’s shocked to learn that his parents knew his secret all along!
Now that the secret is out, Monty and his parents can do something about his fear of the water.
With simple text and illustrations, CAN I TELL YOU A SECRET? introduces preschoolers to the idea that it’s okay to share your fears—and it might actually help you resolve them! This book has charm, a good message, and everything is delivered in an accessible manner. Highly recommend for the classroom and at home!
My thanks to the publisher and YA Books Central for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
