Review Detail

This new take on the classic Cinderella fairy tale features an elephant as Cinderella. Readers will recognize a few pieces from the well known tale, though much of it has been changed or skimmed over (such as the stepmother, the godmother etc) in favor of a more humorous approach. The entire book is peppered with jokes about Cinderella's huge size (She is, after all, an elephant.) but it is her size that attracts the prince. The illustrations are busy and reminded me of a not-as-sleek version of the Babar illustrations.

The story will be enjoyable to readers who like tongue-in-cheek humor and who don't mind a different take on a classic.
