Cirque Du Freak: A living Nightmare, is the first book of an excellent series. This book does an amazing job at introducing Darren Shan and his best friend Steve. The story starts out with a circus of freaks, an underground, exclusive circus, from there it takes off.

I love the author, Darren Shan, just because he wrote this series. This series puts most other vampire books to shame. It's unique and not at all boring. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read. It seems like every person who reads the series, ends up falling in love with it. I read the first book in fifth grade, and I still consider it one of my favorite books.

At first I didn't think I would really like these books...I mean, come one! Vampires? Not really my thing...But I gave them a try and I am now on book ten! If you don't care for blood and violent situations though...they're NOT for you!
In the series a boy named Darren Shan is destined to attend a freak show that will change his, and everyone he loves, around him.

You've heard about them....But they are about vampires!!!! Eek!! That's what I thought before I read them, anyway.
True, it does involve some FREAKY stuff, but it has a really good moral, and backbone to it as well! I'm now on the second book and it's pretty good so far...creepy...but good!
Hope you ...taste...it for yourself!

I devoured this book in about an hour and read all it's successors. The author just keeps you at the edge of your seat until the very last moment then you just feel like going "Thank God!I really thought he was going to die THAT time!"An all round good read for all occasions.

This book tells a story about boys who go to a freak show and how one boy takes the pet of one of the show's men. He keeps it hidden from people until someone unfortunately sees. the friend who sees it gets attacked and there is only one way he can fix it. so he has to make a decision.

If you want to find out what happens read this book. If you like horror, and monsters in detail read this.

A edge of your seat thriller. I couldn't put it down. I could see the freak show as if it were in my own house, while I was reading the book. However, I think the movie will wreck the style the book has going. Darren Shan's writing is one like I've never seen, and probably will never see again. I can't wait until the next one comes out! Read this book. It is WELL worth your time!
