Review Detail

This book was really interesting for me and I enjoyed the time I spent reading it. It displayed its time period well, absorbing the reader into Guilia's life and making it feel so real. I loved the artistic aspect of the book, the discussion of art and of painting techniques. That's something that I don't see very often in books, but I definitely want to see more of it after this. At some points the writing style was beautiful, but other times it felt kind of clunky and awkward. But when it was beautiful, it really was beautiful, particularly when it was talking about art and color. I liked the characters, especially Guilia, but they weren't different or unique from other characters I've read. They didn't stand out to me, though they were well-written and concise. I liked the plot of the book, as well. It kept me reading and interested in what would happen next.
If you're looking for a book that is touching and historical, beautiful and interesting, I would recommend this book.
