What worked: This is a fun guide for those interested in traveling to Japan. The illustrations add to the appeal.

Some things included in this guide are: what to expect and plan for when traveling to Japan; what to eat(love all the fun illustrations here!); suggestions on things to see; traveling resources; and other interesting facts!

Each chapter starts with some Japanese words and terms that align with each theme. **Love the guide that is in the front of the book that gives a few basic rules of pronunciation.

Some of my favorite parts: I loved how the foods are shown in a fun way. I admit, I always thought of ramen noodles as the stuff we buy in the states. Instead the author breaks down what's included in real ramen that is popular in Japan. I'd stand in a long line for a bowl of one of those!

Also it's always interesting to learn about different customs of a culture. For example, the Butsudan-a cabinet with a Buddhist altar which might include a Buddha icon, incense, and photos of decreased family members.

There's also glimpses of fun things to do like attending karaoke, one of Japan's famous entertainment exports; Maneki Neko-cat statues that symbolize luck; the unique machines that sell little trinkets; and of course manga, anime, and video games.

At the end of the book is a list of travel resources, handy Japan apps, some other recommended destinations, important info in case of emergencies, and a list of some of the places illustrations.

Perfect travel guide with a comic book flair that is sure to appeal to travelers who plan to visit Japan. Also a great guide that shows Japanese culture in a fun light.
Good Points
