When the prince is kidnapped by a mean cyclops, Daniela the pirate and her colorful crew must sail to the rescue!

This slapdash adventure is full of monsters and dangers we all know and love, including a massive cyclops, a royal in need of rescue, talking mice, and new friends met along the way. In the way of many fairytale type stories, there isn't much fuss about why wonderful, magical things happen - they just do - and I love Daniela's unquenchable spirit and optimism, which is perfectly displayed through the colorful illustrations.

I expected there to be a moral or theme. What does Daniela learn or change to help her overcome the cyclops? There isn't really an answer, and I wish there was. Still, I was rooting for the pirates the whole way and had a great time picking out the fun details hidden in the illustrations.

All around, a great quest for little ones.
