Darynda Jones has written a thrilling, fun tale with a whole new take on folklore and mythology of the supernatural. With it's hodgepodge bundle of paranormals, I loved reading this fun book and seeing what was in store for all the characters.
From the moment I had heard the title, I was dying to read Death and the Girl Next Door - a title like that is an epic win. Darynda Jones manages to deliver a book exactly what the title promises- a witty story with a bit of humor.
The characters were Death and the Girl Next Door's biggest strength. I loved the large amount of diversity among the characters - they were all so different from one another. Plus there were several hot guys! Lorelei's grandparents were my favorite characters of the book as they were always making me laugh or doing something unexpected.
The plot was where Death and the Girl Next Door fell a bit flat for me. While I enjoyed it, it didn't push itself to that next level. I was missing that addicting quality that I crave with a good book. That being said, the foundation is set, and I cannot wait to see where the story builds in book 2.
Death and the Girl Next Door by Darynda Jones was a book to simply read and escape for an afternoon - complete light hearted fun. Overall, this was a cute start to a new series and I cannot wait to read more from Darynda Jones.
