History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday—to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner... and so is Aiden. If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"—which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time—she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome. But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she’s caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed. Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

OhMygods...Jennifer L. Armentrout has done it again! I could not put this book down, even when it literally fell apart in my hands from the heat. (Seriously, the glue on the binding melted off and Chapter 25 fell out onto my lap.) My first thought was, "Wow, Aiden is too hot for the pages!" *winks*

In this third installment in the Covenant Series, Deity brings all the things we love about JLA's writing to it's pages; blood pumping action, bittersweet romance, witty humor and heart-stopping suspense. And this ending is...*clutches chest*... intense! I went from laughing hysterically to having my heart handed to me on a titanium covered platter in a matter of sentences. This is truly one of the most creative and entertaining series' I've ever read.

Deity picks up where Pure left off and we find Alex and Seth back on Deity Island where they're pretty much attached at the hip or rather, their marks of the Apollyon. Alex has had little time to deal with what happened in the Catskills and all it could mean for she and Aiden. Her internal battle between love and Fate continues and even though she is dead-set on graduating and becoming a Sentinel, her role as the second Apollyon may super-seed her wants. Her heart belongs Aiden but the akasha running through her body pulls her closer towards Seth whenever he's around. And he's always around. Seth amps ups their "training" and Alex suspects he does so in the hopes of her Awakening early. (Things she "does not want".) He continues to assure her that everything will be better and together, they'll be able to bring about change. But is it the kind of change Alex wants?

Things become even more complicated when Aiden is assigned to guard Alex while Seth is away on a super seekrit Apollyon mission. The time they spend together allows them to explore their feelings for one another and in the process, they uncover an ugly truth about the past and a plot designed to take Alex out before her birthday. It seems history is set to repeat itself unless something or someone changes it. Alex also learns that trust doesn't mean the same to everyone and her reckless, knee-jerk reaction, which is only balanced out by her willingness to put others first, could have deadly consequences.

As her birthday quickly approaches, so does the threat of losing everything she holds dear. And when the gods finally show up, all Hades will break loose leaving a path of death and destruction in their wake. Alex may not be able to stop her Awakening from happening but she and everyone around her can only hope that her natural strength will be enough to keep her from losing herself and her heart in the process. *fingers crossed*

Jennifer writes her characters in such a way that I'm always left feeling ALL THE FEELS. We meet some new faces in Deity but we also get to see different sides of familiar characters - some that will make you laugh, swoon and fan your face and others that will leave you choking on your own tears. Good times.

The character who surprised me the most was Aiden. I've been a proud member of "Team Aiden" since Daimon but Deity had me swooning, OhMyAiden! Seth left me torn between wanting to hug him or punch him in the face and Deacon, Luke and Leon had me in fits of laughter. I love Alex but she really frustrated me, especially when she would make decisions that were not going to end well. I actually found myself yelling at her, "Don't do it! Don't do it!". (I have similar reactions to scary movie MC's who go against the instinct that tells them to "RUN!" but instead they feel the need to "check out" the noises coming from the kitchen. *rolls eyes* Everyone knows the kitchen is the favorite hiding spot of ALL THE BAD THINGS.)

Fans of The Covenant Series will NOT be disappointed and Deity's end is so intense, it had me wishing my last name was Piperi so I could get a glimpse of what's to come in Apollyon.

This picks up a week after the events in Pure, after the furies attacked and Alex killed one. When the rest of the crew return to the Covenant, she gets a letter from Laadan, her father is alive. This throws her into wanting to go back and see him, save him. Throughout the book Alex is struggling with becoming the Apollyon in just a short time. Telly comes to her Covenant and demands she tell him the truth that she killed the Pure but she doesn't. Linard betrays them and Leon turns out to be Apollo! Alex dies and gets to see Celeb and in the end she awakens! Yeah, lots of epic things happen in this book.

I love the romance that Alex and Aiden. What I mean is, I just love Aiden. He's freaking perfect! I know there are some of you that are Seth fans and that's fine. You guys can keep Seth and I'll just keep Aiden all to myself. He's so strong and sweet, funny, and confident without being arrogant like.... you know who I'm getting at... *cough* Seth *cough* I don't like arrogance, it's too much.

I love Jennifer Armentrout's writing, I always have. It's fun, steamy at the right places and God does all that sass and stark just made me laugh and smile. This series is one of my all time favorites and one day I hope to own them all. I mean seriously, if any of you guys have a crazy/insane moment and decide you don't want this series anymore. I'll take them, even pay for postage.

For those that haven't read this book/series, go out and get a copy now! I'm demanding it, you can get it from the library (like me). It's worth the time to read this amazing stuff.

I was always proud to be Greek and believe that speaking Greek is a privilege and now it's one of those moments. Reading words like agapi mou, my love, and zoi mou, my life, made me extremely happy. I don't even know why I have to go over the same procedure I do with all the books I read on Goodreads. It's pretty obvious. 5 stars and one of the best books published in 2012. I decided to start reading the Covenant series a while ago because of what other readers and bloggers wrote about Aiden. So, I gave it a shot. And what a shot that was! The characters, the plot, the twists and finally the cliffhanger were exceptional.

Now back to the story. Alex is a step before becoming the Apollyon and the fact that Seth can't keep his hands off her doesn't help. Seth, or Cuddle Bunny, is still one of the hottest guys and he's also the only guy who's trying to win Alex's heart, even when it belongs to a special pure-blood. But he has his humor as his #1 weapon. His lines are delightful.

“Seth?”
“Yeah?”
“You were in my dream.”
“Please tell me we were naked.”

“Our training was rather…exhausting. You know, there's a lot of moving, sweating, thrust—“
“Seth,” I snapped

I wanted to touch him.
“I know what you're feeling right now. I totally approve of it.”

Alex loves them and she tries to accept that she and Aiden don't have a future as a couple. But when Seth announces that he has to accompany Lucian back to the New York Covenant, she wants to go with him because her father is a servant there. There is no way Seth will let her follow him and that's when everything changes.

Because the Order of Thanatos, Death in Greek, wants Alex dead. And you know what? The Order gets its wish. Alex dies and goes to the Underworld, where her best-friend, Caleb, awaits and for a dead guy he's pretty funny.

“No. Persephone owed me one. We were playing Mario Kart Wii and I let her win. I crashed in my favor.”
“You have the Wii down here?”
“What? We get bored. Especially Persephone, when she's down here during these months. Usually Hades doesn't play, thank the gods. He freaking cheats.”

But fate or maybe one god in particular brings her back to life and now she has to stay at Aiden’s house for her protection and that brings them close. Very close. And that's when the best moment in this book, make that the series, occurs. Aiden confesses his true feelings to Alex. He can't hide how deeply and madly in love he is with her and she returns the feeling. The outcome? A night full of love and adoration.

“ I wanted a piece of you with me always. No matter, what.”
I shuddered. “But I don't…I don't have anything of you.”
“ Yes, you do. You'll have a piece of my heart forever. Even if your heart belongs to someone else.”

After that, they're both ready to face everything this decision will bring as long as they're together. Although they have far more dangerous things to take care of. And these things are Lucian, who has gone crazy and he's thirsty for…power and SETH, Lucian's weapon and means of success. But the gods are not happy, not at all and three of them, starting with Poseidon who will do everything , even cause the deaths of innocent people. Then we have Hades, who wants Alexandra to follow him in the Underworld but then Artemis appears — she's pretty cool for a goddess —who saves Alex and reveals a secret about her family tree that takes her by surprise.

“So I will say it one more time just in case Persephone has befuddled that brain of yours—stand down.”
Artemis replaced the arrow back in her quiver and gave Aiden a sexy little grin. “ They just keep getting yummier.”

So, when they finally get away from the crazy-version of Seth and the gods’ wrath, everyone is waiting for Alexandra to Awaken. And when she does…that's how Deity ends. So frustrating. I hate it when they do that. Cliffhanger, again!

But still, it's one of the best books I've read and the wait for Apollyon, the fourth installment in the Covenant series, will be…frustrating! What else?

In Deity we dive deeper into Alex’s world. Her birthday is coming up and she is afraid of what is going to happen when she Awakens. Seth seems to be changing, the more marks that she receives, the more hungry for power he is. Alex thinks there is hope for Seth, but sometimes what we want to happen, and what needs to happen are two separate things. Alex is still mourning Caleb, but she is getting stronger everyday. With the Order of Thantos out to kill her, she is constantly surrounded by babysitters. When things get out of control Aiden takes Alex to a safe house so he can better protect her. Will the miles that separate her from Seth make a difference once she turns eighteen?

Jennifer L. Armentrout has completely immersed us in this captivating and dangerous world. Alex and Aidan are like so many lovers in Greek mythology. Can they break the cycle and find some way to be together? The more of their story that is told, the more the reader is on edge. What will come of these two star-crossed lovers. Are they meant to end up like Apollo and Hyacinth? Gods, love, war, sacrifice, and unimaginable odds surround or heroes. Will they beat these odds, or be lost in a war that can’t be won?

Steph’s review: *small spoilers for Half-Blood and Pure*

I’ve been fretting for weeks on how to start this review. I read it pretty much right after it came out at the start of November, but I have just been pushing back the review because I am, no joke, absolutely speechless from it. I couldn’t produce a single coherent thought to write down! Now, after several weeks of rereading and deep mental processing, I can say that Deity is definitely the best JLA book I have ever read, and that is saying something, because as far as Dani and I are concerned, pretty much every JLA book is a 5 star read. Deity left my heart pounding and aching for more of the Covenant Series.

There is just so much I want to say about this book, and this review could probably continue for a few miles long, but I want to keep this as spoiler free as possible (TRUST ME. You do not want major spoilers for this Deity!!!).

This books picks up right where Pure left off. Alex and the gang have returned from the New York Council after the massive daimon attack. Right from the first chapter, very typical of JLA, there are already plot twists working themselves. Oh, you thought Pure and Half-Blood were bad with the twists and turns? I know I’ve mentioned before that Pure had lots of twists, but just wait until you read Deity. This book is full of them cover to cover, and I actually didn’t expect any of them this time! I swear I was gaping at the pages the entire time I read this! It is just so fast paced, and I had to stop and put the book on several occasions to process the events that just happened. I think the true plot of the Covenant series is really starting to broaden in Deity, and JLA really just dumps a load of information (good, extremely interesting and important info :)) into your head.
There is so much character development in Deity. Our Alex baby really starts grows up in this book. Maybe it’s all of the stress taking a toll on her, but she is now starting to think things through. Her actions are now done with what she believes is best for everyone she loves, rather than more selfish reasons that we see in Half-Blood. Sometimes her decisions weren’t the best for herself, but they were best for the people around her.

I think I need to bold this: As of Deity, I have officially converted from Team Seth to Team Aiden. I’d like to think Dani agrees. In the books before, I thought Aiden was kind of a douche since he was pretty much leading Alex on all the time and then just kicking her to the curb, saying things like “Oh I would destroy your life if we were together! But BY THE WAY I really like you! But we just can’t be together!” But now, I take back every bad thing I have ever said about Aiden, because he just MANS UP and goes for the gold in Deity. He is just so sweet and protective and supportive in this book, and his and Alex’s relationship is now going in a completely new direction *squeals!!!*. Did I mention he’s sexy as heck???

And then there is our new third wheel in the love triangle...Seth...

*sighs*. I don’t really want to say anything about Seth because I know anything I say would mean a giant rant with a giant spoiler somewhere in there. You will just need to read Deity for yourselves to understand what I mean. No matter what happens, I will always have hope for Seth, but I don’t think he will ever win me back to his “Team”.

There are lots of new characters introduced in Deity too “hint, hint” :), and I just won’t be able to get to all of them in this review. Even the recurring characters are changing so much, some for better and some for worse, like Deacon, Marcus, Lucian, Luke, etc. You name the character--they’ve changed.

Overall, Deity has just left me breathless and shocked. Honestly, no review can do it the full justice it deserves. I am craving Apollyon badly already, and I really do not know how I am going to survive the 5-month wait until April. The wait for Deity was bad enough, but the fricken super cliff-hanger ending of Deity has me screaming my head off for more! I really wish I could just hibernate through the winter and wake up to find that it’s April. I would give up 5 months of my life, just to read Apollyon now. I need it that bad.

I recommend Deity to everybody. If you have not started the Covenant series, I suggest you stop whatever you are doing, sit down, and start reading it. Deity was definitely worth the wait, and I can’t wait to see what happens in Apollyon!
Good Points
Everything. JLA knows what she's doing!

This book was just, well, brilliant. I think the phrase used in the book is appropriate here, "Oh my Gods!!". It was sooooooo worth waiting months for this, even if I hardly remember the storyline (that didn't really matter, luckily!!!). This was hardly anything wrong with this book, except for Seth's crazy problems, now what's up with that?

I was literally screaming when Aiden finally made his move with Alex, finally!!! It was about time. I thought that Deity would have Aiden again pushing her away, throughout the entire book, and she resorting with Seth (who I really dislike). I thought that would be really suddenly, being in the moment kinda thing, but I really liked the slow progression, until they couldn't resist anymore. It was so perfect!!

I already disliked Seth intensely, but this book made me purely hate him. I always had this little feeling that he was using her, as he was using other girls, and I thought it revolved around power, but I thought he was trying to do it in a nice way. But noooooo, he has to follow Lucian and steal all her life to be the 'God Killer'. What a lousy person. Seth=bad person.

I didn't really think the dying thing was really necessary, I thought it was a bit weird, and had no real purpose. Well thats what I thought anyway.

I just loved Deity, I thought it was brilliant. The Leon idea was awesome, I loved the hidden identity thing. I think Deity has been the best one so far, and everyone will love it!!
Good Points
-Clever to introduce the whole Leon thing.
-Aiden and Alex get together, time for celebration!!

Oh
My
Gods.

So….I find myself thinking about anomalies, phenomena—things that you wouldn’t think are possible.

Like,

Lightning striking in the same place twice

The flap of a butterflies wings causing an earthquake

Writing a third novel in a series that is just as good if not better than the first two.

I don’t know about lightning or butterfly wings, but I do know about Deity, the third novel in the Half-Blood series. I will shout from the mountaintops that Deity is a phenomenon—a captivating, gut-wrenching exploration of desire—desire for love, for truth, and for power. In a reality where everyone has secrets, where light and dark are a tangled web, and where love and fate battle for the heart; Jennifer L. Armentrout once again, manages to push us to the edge of a cliff where we are more than willing to jump head first into her world.

This was my favorite book of the series so far! The suspense is heighted, the romance is steamy, and the chaos is abundant. Plus...the gods. We saw quite a few greek gods in Deity, and I have to say, I loved them so hard--whether they were good or bad! Jennifer just knows how to write a story that sucks you right in!!

And the whole Seth or Aiden thing....I won't say much other than, WOW! I want to go right back to the beginning and start all over again!

Deity will leave you breathless, aching for a clue about what is next for Alex, for Aiden, for Seth—and for the fragile world that rests upon their shoulders.

There isn't much to say besides wow. And I loved it. Alex continues to kick butt and take names, Aiden is hot as ever and we get to see a whole new level with him... Seth is mysterious and dangerous as ever, and there are plot twists that I never expected.
If you haven't read this series, I highly recommend it. It is among my favorites, because of the characters, the love story and the action behind the scenes.
This is no filler book. There is action, character development, love and new snags to the plan on every page.
Alex kept me cheering for her, snickering at her mouth and wishing I had her skills every other page. I love being in her head, and getting to feel like I have that kind of wit, energy and passion if only for the hours where I am transported into her world. I also loved being able to see a more soft side of Alex and she wrestles with choices she must make, and possible ways that the future could play out with responsibility on her shoulders.
I love the secondary characters as well... they have depth and they add something. Lea with her emotions, Olivia with her pain and confusion over what to feel towards Alex, Marcus and wondering about his motivations, and Leon... yeah, well there is a huge story there too. I love the scenes with Deacon as well. He makes me laugh and I am so glad for his friendship with Alex, he adds just the right thing to the scenes that he is in. And oh, how I miss Caleb. We get a small dose of him in ways I didn't expect in this one, but he was such a great friend and character.
The ending is amazing, leaving me wanting more. Jennifer, be glad I don't know your address, or I might have to ninja Apollyon from your computer, lol.
Great book, awesome series, amazing author.

Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

50 gazillion million trillion stars! This book was AMAZING. I have never read a book that has kept me excited as this

Yes, this cat sums up ALL of my emotions while reading this book!

This will be a quick an short review since this is an ARC. I will try not to give too much spoilers I PROMISE! I don't want any death threats in my email lol.

The story start where we left off in book 2 Alex is taken back to the covenant as you all know and well, after everything that has happened Alex, is put basically on LOCK DOWN until her eighteenth birthday that she does not want to come. In the begging Alex finds out some shocking news about her father that you are just going to have to read to find out! Book three is full of so many twist, turns and surprises that is going to have you saying "OH MY GOD'S!" throughout the whole book!

Alex: Is still her kick/smart ass self and just can't seem to catch a break in this book. Alex is put through the ultimate test when it comes to her fate and what she feels is right. Alex has to make a life changing decision that can put the people she loves in a life threatening situation.

I really loved Alex and felt like I connected more with her on an emotional level. Yes, Alex can Irrational and crazy at times but in this book I actually got to see a softer side of Alex that I really liked, and I can say she is still the same crazy Alex that us fans love but she is also maturing and growing and I love the new Alex!

Aiden You all probaly already heard me say this but......I AM NOW #TEAMAIDEN !!!
I was originally Team Seth because he was hotter and funny than the boring Aiden but Aiden has stepped up his GAME this time around! I LOVE HIM! I WANT TO MARRY HIM! HAVE SENTINAL BABIES WITH HIM!....Anyways, Aiden finally has a chance to show us the real him and I am LOVING ALL OF IT! He is soooooo sweet, loving and caring when it comes to Alex, you can't help but love him! All my #TeamSeth girls look out because Aiden is going to steal your heart!

Seth Oh, Seth........Hmmmmmmmm......I suggest you guys should read the book when it comes out to see why I have no words for him. I still love you Seth, but you need to get it together!!!!! I will have more to say about him Nov 6th so look out :)

Leon I know you guys are wondering why I am mentioning Leon in my review because he is a 'nobody' but I think everyone will notice his role in book three and come to LOVE HIM!

Minister Telly I HATE YOU AND WISH YOU WOULD DIE!!!

Lucian I just DON'T LIKE YOU!!!

Romance: LOTS OF IT!!!! I loved this book for the steamy parts that popped in and out of this book, all of them will leave you with an AWWWWWWW feeling :)
