Beautiful, warm illustrations and well-written, easy to understand text combine into this informative look inside the hive and the life of Matilda, the bee.
Diary of a Bee takes us on the complete life cycle of a bee, meeting Matilda right after she's born! She gives us an almost daily account of what is happening inside the hive as well as shows us around the different areas and the different types of bees living and working there.
The warm and expressive illustrations pair wonderfully with the story. The text flows like a mini-diary with the day of life given at the top before a short text lets Matilda explain what she's up to.
The text is a little longer than in some picture books for this age group, but it is very well done and doesn't bore or overwhelm the reader. The information is easy to understand, is interesting, and offers new information.
Diary of a Bee is a perfect introductory book for kiddos who are interested in our busy, buzzing little friends.
