This book starts out promising. Greg gets a diary for his birthday, much to his frustration, from his mother. He begins to write in it about his life, his best friend Rowley, and their middle school problems. The pictures are entertaining, the dialogue is good and easy to follow. However the further into the book I got, the more disappointed I became. Greg starts looking self-centered and selfish. He treats his best friend Rowley and most everyone else, with such disrespect and rudeness, it's hard to laugh at the funny parts. I guess you could say, Greg gets what he has coming to him by the end, but instead of being humorous and understanding, the book falls short and it just seems overly judgemental.
