What I Loved:

As a reader who really loved DON'T TURN AROUND, I had high expectations for the sequel. The high stakes that kept me frantically turning pages in the first book continue to rise in the second. Readers who love thrillers and adventures where life and death are on the line (plus readers who enjoy conspiracy theories) will devour this series. There are tense scenes, action scenes, and an explosive climax designed to make readers instantly beg for the third book.

I still enjoyed spending time with Noa and Peter, though more characters are introduced. A few of the secondary characters shine in their own right, and some of the characters I thought I understood in book one managed to surprise me. Noa thinks quickly on her feet and finds creative solutions to her problems, but she's still conflicted inside over what has happened to her and over whether shes making the right choices. Peter is conflicted over some of his choices as well. Each of them think differently and remain distinct from each other, something I appreciate when I'm reading a book that centers on both a hero and a heroine. I'm committed to finding out how their story ends.

What Left Me Wanting More:

As much as I enjoyed spending time with Noa and Peter again, I had a hard time connecting to them the way I did in book one. One possible reason is that they are apart from each other, and I missed that dynamic. However, I still feel invested in learning how their story ends.

The pacing in this book felt off to me. Whereas the first book grabbed me by the throat and rarely let up in the escalation of tension, this book struggled to maintain a constant sense of fear and tension for me. Again, this could be because the two main characters were separated, and each story line had its own set of conflicts and showdowns. It should be noted that both showdowns were climactic and exciting, and that overall, the book kept me turning pages.

Final Verdict:

DON'T LOOK NOW is a solid sequel that raises the stakes and pushes Noa and Peter to the edge of their limits. Readers who love a contemporary thriller with conspiracy elements will be anxious for book three.
