In Dreams Come to Life (Bendy Graphic Novel #1) You meet Seventeen-year-old Buddy who wants to become an artist and has been working as a delivery boy to support his family. He meets Mr. Joey Drew, the owner of an animation studio when he is out on a delivery and is taken under his wing as an apprentice. But the studio isn’t all that it seems, as mysterious ink trails are left around the studio. Buddy and Dot, the writing intern, want to find out just exactly what is going on in the studio.
What I liked: I have heard a lot about this game so I was thrilled to read the book as I don’t do well following along with video game storylines. I loved that this book broke that down and gave me the origin story. I appreciate that this book went back in time to provide us with the backstory of how we ended up where we were at the beginning of the book and what needs to happen next. I can’t wait to read more of this series and see what ends up happening with our characters.
The colors of the book match the video game which adds an element of horror into the story. I love that everything is in brown tones except for the ink as it makes for a very distinct villain when they are introduced. I’m interested in learning more about the characters that were created by the animation studio and how Mr. Drew plans to continue with his plan. I loved getting to see who the real villain of this story is and how multi-layered the villains are as there is more than one.
Final Verdict: Dreams Come to Life is a fun graphic novel that brings the video game to life once again. Children ages 9 and up will enjoy reading the story of their favorite characters from the video games and learning more with each book. If you are a fan of the Five Nights at Freddie’s franchise, I highly recommend giving this book a try.
