Stargazer was interesting to read.
Bianca continues at Evernight Academy and still tries to be with Lucas.
I liked seeing more of Vic and there was more humor in this novel.

Stargazer picks up just as the new school year begins.  Bianca's not supposed to be seeing Lucas, but that won't stop her from taking trips into nearby towns to see him.  Back at Evernight, strange things are happening, and Bianca seems to be at the sight of all these happenings.  Is somethinig after the school?  Or is something after her?

Stargazer was so much better than Evernight.  It kept me up all night reading, and anticipating the release of the next book.  In Stargazer we learn a little more about some of the other characters, especially Balthazar and Raquel.  We also learn the truth about Bianca's miracle birth.  Even if you weren't too fond of Evernight, make sure to read Staragazer.  Ages 14+

Year two for Bianca at Evernight Academy, a school where vampires go to learn how to keep up with the times despite being centuries old. Bianca misses Lucas, a Black Cross Vampire Hunter who tried to infiltrate the secrets of Evernight the year before. While keeping up with a crazy class schedule, avoiding the snobbish vampire elit, and sneaking out to secretly meet with Lucas, she delves into uncovering the mystery of why the strict headmistress has started allowing human students to attend the school. When wraiths start showing up at the school trying to talk to Bianca, she realizes that she really can't trust anybody.

If you haven't read Evernight, the first of this series, then don't read this review, scroll down until you find the Evernight review.

This book was extremely slow to start. The first quarter of the book was recapping what happened in the first book. Here's my issue with that; If you're going to write a book, and then right a sequal, don't rewrite the first one into the second one. I know it's assumptive to believe that everybody has read the first book but if they're going to pick up in the middle of the series, that's really their problem. I don't want to sit and reread something that I've alread read. That said, once the story picked up, it wasn't half bad.

This book was a lot more involved with Lucas and Bianca's relationship, forgoing a complex plot to build up the characters themselves. I loved how the relationships between Bianca and Raquel built both of them up as people. Gray picked up on the importance of relationships building the humanity of characters and for that, I'm glad. Balthazer was getting annoying because he seemed so distant and yet Gray tried to play him off as a Jacob-esk love lost character.

Gray's writing style matured with this book. I could see a lot more of the story instead of just reading and knowing what's supposed to be going on. The plot, however, needed work. I really do appreiciate the character building, but characters need a story to survive. The first half of the book was almost nothing. There were a few fights, a new character, and some clues alluding to some sort of plot to come, but I didn't get any action until about the last chapter. Vampire books need vampire action and there was very little of that. I also had an issue with the ghosts. The way Gray presented the wraith/vampire situation was inconsitant and blotchy at best. I understand her need to try something new in the vampire world, but it wasn't well planned. That said, it does provide an interesting twist to the story.

With the end of summer break comes a new term for the students of Evernight Academy.
Bianca Oliver, now a second year student at the school, couldnt be happier to see the new term, especially since it means she might get news from her boyfriend Lucas Ross, who she recently found out was a vampire hunter training with The Black Cross, a pack of vampire hunters that his family belongs to. Reeling from this realization, shes now having trouble keeping her long distance relationship with him going, but shes not willing to give him up, no matter how cute Balthazar More is &
Hurting Balthazar is the last thing Bianca wants to do, but knowing that her attachment to Lucas is too strong to wane, even with their separation, Balthazar helps Bianca come up with a plan so itll seem like shes dating him, when in fact shes really sneaking off to be with Lucas. Smooth Balthazar, smooth&
As if this isnt complicated enough a string of deaths sets off the Black Cross, and a confusing encounter with a strange vampire girl gets Bianca tied to the case, getting her involved once again in the Black Cross dealings as well as throwing her and Balthazar even closer together.
But what else is new? Oh, did I mention the icy figures that keep showing up when Bianca least wants to see them, and kind of want to kill her? Theyre new&
As everything around Bianca is starting to unravel in a flurry of mystery and hidden secrets, shes starting to question everything shes ever known, and if shes really placed her loyalty in the right place.

********************

In her thrilling sequel to the award winning novel, Evernight, Claudia Gray weaves an exciting tale of love, and intrigue, in a way that no one else can. Stargazer was impossible to put down, and I enjoyed every minute of it, except for when it ended of course!
I give it 5 out of 5 stars for wonderful writing and scenes with both Balthazar and Lucas (my new heart throbs) that took my breath away. Shes definitely one to watch in the YA or Young Adult Genre, and I for one will read any book put out by this brilliant story-teller.
