EVERYTHING AWESOME ABOUT SPACE AND OTHER GALACTIC FACTS! by Mike Lowery is chock full of interesting facts about our universe, stars, and aeronautics. It is clear from the cover alone that the author had kids in mind when creating the book. Every page is full of detailed and colorful illustrations that will entertain while educating.

What I Loved:
As a homeschooling mom, I particular enjoyed the layout as well as the format of the book. This does not read like a text book, but rather a comic, similar in tone to Pilkey. This is plus as kids will likely be drawn to read the book and learn something at the same time.
The author has organized the material into six parts: the universe, our solar system, the stars, space rocks, space exploration, and drawing. Each planet has its own two-page spread with all the important facts laid out as well as a colorful illustration of the planet itself. I personally liked the attention the author gave to space exploration, which accounts for about half of the book. There is even a fun spread about the possibility of aliens which my 10 year old loved.

Final Thoughts:
Overall I really enjoyed this one and will be incorporating it into our homeschool curriculum. EVERYTHING AWESOME ABOUT SPACE AND OTHER GALACTIC FACTS! will make a fantastic addition to any school library, appealing to elementary aged kids who aspire to go to infinity and beyond.
