Explore the joys of summer through jumping rope, swimming and watching fireflies exemplify some of the wonders of this season. The alphabetic verse of F is for Fireflies by Kathy-jo Wargin adds a playful note to the books text.

Some ABC items seem out of place, like they were chosen for their first letters and not for their summery value, e.g., Anchor and Inchworm. Additionally, some of the spiritual connections to summer items are weak and need strengthening. For example:
Lets pick some daisies
of yellow and white
The center reminds us
of Gods pure delight!
How does a yellow dot relate to Gods delight in creation? The relationship feels forced. However, other rhymes offer both insight and delight:
Rainbows in summer are Gods way to say
That after the rain comes a brilliant new day.

Vibrant illustrations in simple lines create the feelings of motion and summers busyness. This book will remind children of their favorite summer pastimes and will brighten dark winter days.

Children will find this book pleasurable to hear and view.
