Although this book is a little clichéd in places I still really liked it. The romance is ramped up more than in, say City of Bones, but didn't quite take me to the heights of Twilight. For me, the writing was strong enough to keep me turning those pages wanting to see Luce and Daniel get together and now that they are, but still aren't (if that makes any sense!)it has made me want to read the next book in the Fallen series. There are a few problems though; some of it was predictable, for e.g. Daniel's last name is Grigori, so for anyone who knows anything about the history of angels it was a no-brainer working out he was an angel. It was also obvious that Cam wasn't the guy for Luce with all the serpent symbolism that accompanied him so I never really believed that she would go off with him. However, the fact that Daniel and Cam are now working together at the end of the book has given me an appetite to read on.

Flawed but well worth a look!

I thought that I would hate Fallen much more than I do. I thought it would be that obsessive love throughout the entire book. But since it was between two guys, and all the other problems swirling inside the plot, I was able to enjoy the book much more than I did with that other angel romance book that I read (Hush, Hush)

There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori. Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce--and goes out of his way to make that very clear--she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

I think that this book was way better than Hush Hush because it was so much better over all. The plot went deeper and twisted different corners. I am really glad that Luce had friends, normally in these books, example; Twilight, they have absolutely no friends what so ever. Bella was so in 'love' with Edward that she had no TIME for friends. But Luce had Arianne (I think thats right...) and Penn. SHE HAD FRIENDS!!!!

Score: Hush Hush-0, Fallen-1

Near the end, it got all intense and way confusing. I don't think that the majority of (spoiler alert!!) the school should of been some sort of angel. How could they live together and not know!!!! I mean seriously!! Not possible, considering that angels are supernatural beings.

Score: Hush Hush-1, Fallen-1

Now the reform school. I thought that was such a clever idea. It supported the idea that Luce was truly messes up, because she was seeing angels, literally! And wearing all black, that must earn some credit.

Score: Hush Hush-1, Fallen-2
Good Points
-I liked the reform school, normally that doesn't happen!
-Mystery, although it was easy to figure out from the prologue
-Luce had friends

This is one of the few books that I actually liked more for the plot and writing rather than characters. The entire plot was dark, dangerous, mysterious. Kate's writing was obviously skillful, and very beautiful. I'd heard so many great things about this one, and I had to try it. Plus, that cover just really pulled me towards it.

The beginning instantly yanked me in. Luce's shady background intrigued me and made me want to know more about her story. What bothered me about her was her obsession with Daniel Grigori. Really, even she called herself "crazy stalker girl" a couple of times. He's beautiful and perfect, but also cold, rude, and distant. What happened to not looking at the outside, but the inside? She wasn't a very relatable character. Of course, even though Luce did seem shallow this way, the prologue does actually explain a bit. I loved the prologue. It drew me in, and kept me fascinated with Luce and Daniel's tragic love story.

This story is about fallen angels, a topic that is definitely one of my favorites (first introduced through Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush). Luce is a girl accused of murdering a boy and being crazy. She knows she isn't, but how is she supposed to explain those shadows that have followed her her entire life? She's sent to Sword & Cross Boarding School after a terrible fire incident that changes her life. Really, I don't know what kind of parent would send their one child to this hell. Obviously, a bad one.

After my disgust with the school passed, I got more into the book. Even though Luce's fetish kind of made me mad at first, Daniel turned out to be pretty sweet. He totally changed my feelings later on. Can't give too much away, so I'll leave it at that.

Daniel is not the only love interest of Luce's. There's also Cam. I didn't really like Cam from the beginning. He seemed kind of... untrustworthy. But that's just my opinion. I'll let you read the book for yourself and decide.

The main characters weren't so great, but I totally loved Penn and Arriane. Penn was just a likable person from the start. Of course, mean person that I am, I was a little suspicious of her at first, because don't the girls that are super nice to the new kids always the ones that back-stab them later? I guess that's at regular schools, not prison camp ones. Arriane's story was very interesting. She had scars on her neck, wore a wristband that tracked her, was put on probation, and had about a million other terrible things related to her. And yet, she was friendly to Luce, probably because of her own lonliness.

While some of this book's characters did need more development, the Gothic elements were really fascinating and can pull the reader right into their grasp. The mystery shrouding the fallen angels in this novel is truly compelling. Suspenseful twists filled the ending that left you with many unanswered questions, and I can't wait to get a copy ofTorment to have them answered.

The
story talks about a girl called Luce Price who starts her senior year
on a reform school, where she will meet a mysterious guy called Daniel,
who is keeping a secret&

The book is really good. Maybe we are a
little tired of these mysterious guys& but I really like it! I mean, I
didnt know what was going on until the end! And I really enjoyed the
book in this way! The places and the background are very dark and fit
perfectly with the plot and the characters. And when I finished I wanted to read more.

I recommend this book to everybody who like forbidden romance. The only problem is that the second book, Torment, is awful.

I picked this book because of it's cover. (I know, Don't judge a book by it's cover -blah, blah, blah-)But I love the cover! So beautiful. I loved the story it will kept you guessing at what's going to happen next. I didn't really like the beginning of the story. But, when I finished the book, I went back to the prolodge and read it and it made more sense. I loved the ending and can't wait for the next book (Tormant) to come out. (I'm adding it to Books to come out in 2010 post) I give this book 4.5 stars.

I was extremely excited about reading Fallen, I have seen it everywhere
and the cover is absolutely stunning. So, I recently picked it up at
the bookstore and I took it on vacation with me. I was able to finish
it within a few days and here is what I think. Fallen was a good book.
What is one of my favorite books? No. But it was good. I think the
story was very imaginative and I adore Luce. I found her very
realistic, her actions were always in the realm of sanity for a
seventeen year old girl. In fact, all of the characters were very fun
to follow - especially Daniel. I found myself wanting to find out what
exactly was going on in his mind and why he was acting the way he was.
However, my one and only real problem with this book is that it seemed
to drag. I found myself repeatedly skimming paragraphs and sometimes
even pages, especially those that dragged on about the particular shade
of the shadow Luce was currently seeing. That being said, I truly
enjoyed this book and I cannot wait for the next in the series!

Hooked again! Personally, Im a series reader&.when I fall in love with a really great book, I fall in love with all of it. The plot, the characters, and the world the author has created for them and everything in between. This is why for me, when I learn there will be a sequel to a book Ive just fallen in love with its a silver lining that I grab on to.

Fallen by Lauren Kate has done just that&.hooked me to yet another series that I will be dying to continue reading and counting down the days until the next installment hits the bookshelves (how many days until September 28th?).

Kate created characters in Fallen like Luce, and Daniel and Arriane, who were so full of personality and mystery on top of it that as a reader I was reading as quickly as I could hoping to learn their secrets with each turn of the page. Some secrets came out, others have yet to be revealed. Fallen had me guessing until the very end, even when I thought I was putting the pieces of the puzzle together, new questions were thrown in, it was fabulous! Keeping with the way most series work, Fallen left readers wanting more.

Kate was able to integrate so many different elements throughout the novel and yet I wasnt feeling overwhelmed with all the information she was giving her readers. I will admit to being disappointed that I was left slightly anxious and nervous concerning the characters fates and futures, but anyone who picks up this novel will agree that the frustration over unanswered questions was worth it!

Now were all just anxiously awaiting the release of the next installment in the Fallen series, Torment.
