FIREFIGHTERS (FINN'S FUN TRUCKS) is a cute board book that introduces the different vehicles used by firefighters. Each page introduces a vehicle and asks readers to guess what it does. They then can open/fold out the page to see it in action and read more about how it used by firefighters.
What I loved: This is fantastically fun for children who are all about vehicles. The book contains all sorts of different firefighting vehicles, shows some of their key parts, and shows them in action. The images are fantastic with repeating characters and all the focus on the cool vehicles. The fold out pages show big scenes and add some interactive fun to the reading experience.
Due to the length and complexity of some of the terms/sentences, this book would work best for preschool aged readers who can appreciate what is happening, make guesses about how the vehicles work, and ask questions about what is happening in the scenes.
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, some pages can feel a bit text heavy and could probably be stated in a shorter way to help for younger readers. The fire rescue boat was also a bit confusing as people are shown in a capsized boat, and they are seemingly spraying water at them (my child asked why they were adding water when water was the problem, and I did not have a good answer). Overall, they were pretty clear in terms of what was happening and how they were helping though.
Final verdict: FIREFIGHTERS (FINN'S FUN TRUCKS) is a fun and interactive board book that will work well for preschool-aged vehicle lovers!
