Wow...this book was surprising...I wasn't expecting al the romance and the sexual interaction....But hey they say it's an adult novel! I would not recommend this book to 14 years of age and younger Grow up! then you'll see how romantic love can really be

Forever is supposed to be an adolescent's first taste of a novel containing a realistic sexual relationship. I don't think that Judy Blume was very successful at doing this unless she thinks that all adolescent relationships are shallow and immature. It seems more like she was writing this book with mild young adult porn to up her popularity vote with teens. Everyone says that Lady Chatterley's Lover is one of those "no-no" books, but if anything, I think DH Lawrence in his ADULT novel portrayed the sexual content in a more tasteful and poetic way than Judy Blume ever did. (Granted, the time periods in which these novels were written are drastically different.) Face it, she was just using the Piers Anthony approach of capitalizing on new-found sexuality in teens to sell her book. Not saying Pier Anthony is all bad.

I liked it because it dealt with the teenage adoloscence. She really told it like it was. I did not, however, like the fact that she just rushed the end. I wondered what really went on between Katherine and Micheal that summer. It just did not seem like the right type of ending for those two.

Seeing comments from another person who has read this book was not all that surpriseing. I agree that I was somewhat surprised of it's specific content when I first got into the book. I was very much surprised to the fact that my Language Arts teacher recomended it. I read it because to be a good reader you must explor all types and styles of writing. Even though it has some graphic and more than adolesent content it is a good book. Judy Blume is a great writer. All can say is to read this book you must have an open mind, remember the fact that the characters are 18 on the verge of becomeing adults, and that you MUST be a mature reader to HANDLE this type of book without getting all "freaked out". It's real life...

This book was very surprising to be a adolescent book. The characters seemed shallow and self-absorbed. The novel centered around a teen-aged relationship, but it talked way too much about s**. I'm sorry, but that isn't the only thing teenagers want to read about.
