What I liked:
Shakespeare's retelling at its finest, set in a covert world of 1930s Shanghai, has just the right amount of spy undercover intrigue and romance to make you swoon. I started the series with These Violent Delights and enjoyed every moment of the thrilling spy adventure set against the backdrop of natural history. Chole Gong knows how to keep you reading as she intricately weaves plot twists into the story. You are unsure how to trust, who to love, or who is dead; the whole thing is in the final book.
Final Verdict:
Foul Lady Fortune and Foul Lady Huntsman can be read without the previous two novels, but if you want to understand all the characters truly, I highly recommend you read These Violent Delights.
