Gathering Blue, written in the style of the Giver. Is a story of a young girl, Kira, in a utilitarian society. Kira has excellent sewing skills.
After her mother passes away she is recruited by the goverment to begin sewing the cloak of the singer. This is an extremly important job and is very honorable. This book goes through her struggles and shows her coming to terms with her new life and her mothers death.
If you liked the Giver or the Messenger you will really enjoy this book too.
