The highly anticipated sequel to the instant New York Times bestseller that critics are calling “out-of-this-world awesome.” Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed. The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminae continues on board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault. Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy’s most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion. When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station’s wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands. But relax. They’ve totally got this. They hope. Once again told through a compelling dossier of emails, IMs, classified files, transcripts, and schematics, Gemina raises the stakes of the Illuminae Files, hurling readers into an enthralling new story that will leave them breathless.

I think you will agree with me when I say that the hype train for this book series never ends. We’ve all seen how people kept on talking about Illuminae last year and I was really excited for that book that I always check my local book stores whenever I go home and boy I did enjoy reading that book.

Illuminae didn’t exactly end in a cliffhanger but the idea of reading more books about these space adventures is exciting so Gemina never left my radar. Luckily, I got sent an advanced copy of this book so I’ll be forever thankful to the lovely people over at Penguin Random House.

Gemina literally picks up minutes after the events in Illuminae, only focusing on a different space vessel and completely different characters.

The main characters are Hanna Donnelly and Nik Malikov. Hanna is the daughter of the Commander of Jump Station Heimdall, Charles Donnelly, who happens to be friends with Isaac Grant. Yes that same “Grant” so y’all know things are going to be interesting. Nik Malikov is a member of a notorious crime family, albeit very reluctant. So obviously Nik and Hanna have nothing in common, but they are thrown away to work together in order to save the universe – literally.

I love the character dynamics between Hanna and Nik. They are total opposites which makes their banter fun to read. One might say that Hanna and Nik might be similar to Kady and Ezra, yeah I could say that somehow but they are totally different characters with different personalities. I also enjoyed the addition of different narratives, like Hanna’s journal, I can’t wait to see the final sketches for that and I’m super excited because Marie Lu illustrated them!

My favorite character is Ella Malikova, Nik’s cousin. She’s snarky and sweet and very intelligent as well. I also enjoyed seeing familiar names on the casualty list and I can’t wait to read more from the final copy. Never did I get excited about reading names on a casualty list.

I actually put this book down for a while to listen to the audiobook of Illuminae, which in turn heightened my experience of reading this book. Given the A+ storytelling from the first one, this book got better in so many ways. More action, more thrills, more fun. It was a glorious experience overall and I couldn’t put the book down since I resumed reading it because the story keeps on building up. I really can’t wait for you all to read this book!

Hello! I'm very excited to share what worked for me to everyone. I'm completely cured from my HSV1&2 with the use of natural medicine. I have used Oregano oil, Coconut oil, Acyclovir, Valacyclovir, Famciclovir and some other products/supplements and it hasn't helped ever since I was diagnosed. I got outbreaks frequently and was completely devastated and I went online for a possible cure and how to get rid of Herpes. On a fateful day after taking my bath, I took my phone and was going through some research, I bumped into a testimonial of a Herbs doctor { Dr Awase } who cures diverse diseases/viruses with Herbal medication. I was hopeful but also doubted the claim. But after a while I thought "what do I have to lose?" so I decided to reach out. He prepared a cure using roots and herbs which I steadily took for 14days as prescribed by him. I am quite glad I decided to reach out because I am totally cured from Herpes after a medical checkup was done by my Dr. So I've decided to make a quick testimony for anyone out there who is probably suffering from an illness they can't handle to reach out to Dr Awase. He specializes in curing lots of illnesses such as HIV, ENDOMETRIOSIS, PCOS, OVARIAN CYST, INFERTILITY, HEPATITIS A,B,C and lots more. I'm here to let you all know that you can also be cured just like me and you don't have to live with any sort of illness for the rest of your life. Holy crap! What can I say about this book? I'm not a huge sci fi reader, but I absolutely loved this book (both of them). First, the packaging. This book is just amazing. The artwork really added a lot. Hanna and Nik were kickass new characters. I loved Ella, too. The whole story flowed well and it was so hard to put down. I had all kinds of emotions. A little bit of tears at one point and a whole lot of "holy shit" moments. Those parasite things were nuts and really freaked me out. Quite a bit of violence and tons of action. I cannot wait for the next one!
Good Points
Great pacing.
Full of action and violence.
Amazing illustrations.
A great continuation of the series.
