I thought this book was pretty good. Cyd was a really interesting character, easy to relate to. Love the relationship she has with shrimp it's so cute! Rachel Cohn is a really great writer, ever since i read Pop Princess i began to read more of her books and i enjoyed all of them. I can't wait until i read the second and third book in this series!

"“Not just Another Teen Novel."” ELLEgirl says. Gingerbread is certainly not normal and certainly not a book I would have picked if I really knew what it was about. Gingerbread is a very serious and mature, quite different from The Steps by Rachel Cohn.

Cyd Charisse is named after the dancer from the past. She’s a trouble maker. She’s drinking, sometimes doing drugs, sometimes going far with boyfriends, and other bad things. She’s sixteen going on a crazy college kid. Cyd’s having problems with her family because of her boyfriend’s expulsion from school. Suddenly, Cyd’s off to New York to meet her biological father with secrets only a few people know. She finds out about her half siblings and more.

I didn’t really enjoy Gingerbread. It was more of a pain than a gain. I didn’t really enjoy it much. I think only girls would like it because of content. I “recommend” this book for those over the age of 14.
