Griselda Snook’s Spectacular Books tells the story of Henry who has found a key on the sidewalk and upon giving it to the owner, she enters a large bookstore which he follows her into. This bookstore carries a variety of Halloween-themed books with Halloween characters being the primary audience. Henry is certain that he won’t find anything for himself until a reader at the bookstore introduces him to a book that might be the perfect fit. 

What I Liked: I love having good books to read during October that center around Halloween. The minute that I opened this book I couldn’t pull my eyes away due to the vibrant colors included throughout. I appreciated that the colors were all shades of black, white, and gray with pops of orange since that caught your attention immediately. 

I loved that this bookstore caters to Halloween characters and is a themed bookstore specifically for Halloween. I appreciated the different characters that we are introduced to throughout the book and how they are at this bookstore looking for things to read. I love the message that this sends to children; reading is for everyone. 

Final Verdict: Griselda Snook’s Spectacular Books is a great way to show children that there is a book for everyone, and you may not have found it yet. This book is great for children ages 3 and up who will enjoy seeing the different Halloween characters they may be familiar with and older children who may be struggling with finding books they like.
