HAPPY HALLOWEEN, STINKY FACE is an adorable Halloween story about a little boy who has all sorts of questions for his mom right before he’s supposed to go out trick-or-treating. Like ‘what if his sister turns into a real butterfly? Or ‘what if the candle in the Jack o’ lantern blows out?’ To which his mom always has a perfect answer to.

What I loved about this book was that the boy’s questions were hand drawn, with some of the words forming images. While the mom’s answers were all done in regular font. It was a very cute and something I love about children’s books. The added imagery was a really cute touch. Not to mention the added curiosity of children comes across so well in this book, and reminds you how much goes through young kids heads.

The illustrations were adorable with all the added detail. Really bringing this story to life. I think my favorite page was the one with the sister in her butterfly costume. Everything was so well done and the drawings plus the colors really make this book pop. What I loved overall was the way the mom handle all of the questions and really put her son at ease about the whole thing.

Lisa mcCourt puts those worries to rest, and gives kids a fun, adorable book, that allows kids to feel at ease about going trick-or-treating.
