THis was JK Rowling's first book and well wow! I absolutely loved this book. Why? Well, I just found this book so hooking and interesting. If you love fantasy, you probably have read Harry Potter and love it. If you don't give it a shot and learn what all the Harry Poter hype is about and where it all started.

The book was simply wonderful, I had wanted to read the books when I was younger, but never wanted to read through the very begining of the book. After I did read it though, it was one of the best books I ever read.

I'm sure most of you can remember the first book, yes it's been a long time ago and a lot of books ago. Let me recap: Harry is delivered to the Dursely's (shudder) at midnight after the death of his parents and is raised in a muggle household until Hagrid comes along. He takes Harry under his wing and helps him get to Hogwarts where all the trouble starts. Harry might not know much about his famous past but his classmates sure do. Quickly he makes friends and enemies; preparing for the second time he faces Voldemort.

OK, so everyone's gonna hate me for this, but oh well, I didnt really like it. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's good writeing and everything, just not my type of book... wizards and witches are ok, but kids going to school to learn how to become idnt all that great. I mean OF COURSE there gonna get into that kinda trouble, you dealing with Wizards and Trolls and whatnot... but anyways... nope, just not my kinda thing I guess...

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone is the first book in J.K. Rowlings legendary story. Harry lives with his aunt and uncle because his parents had gotten into a car accident. Harry was treated very poorly compared to his cousin, Dudley. One morning when Harry picks the mail up for his uncle, Harry is surprised to see a letter addressed to him. Harry didn't have any friends or any other family members, he didn't even belong to the library, so it couldn't be a letter telling him his books are over due. But when Harry returns to the breakfast table and his uncle notices he has a letter, he snatches it away before Harry had the chance to read it. When his uncle was able to read a bit of the letter, he began acting very oddly and showed the letter to his wife. After this, he pushes Harry and his cousin out of the room and refuses to tell either of them what the letter was about.
But the sender of the letter must have some how known that Harry hadn't gotten his letter, the very next day, another one came for him. But once again his uncle intercepted it. For the rest of the week Harry's uncle stayed home from work to make sure Harry wouldn't get ahold of any of the letters. Eventually, his uncle comes to the conclusion that the only way he will be able to avoid the letters is to leave town.
After staying in driving all day, staying the night in a hotel (where more letters arrived) and driving all day again, his uncle had them reside in a small shack on top of a rock out a ways in the sea. That night, at around midnight, someone was outside the shack pounding on the door. Finally when no one opens the door, the door flies off it's hinges to reveal a giant man. The man, who introduced himself as Hagrid, seemed to know Harry.
Hagrid was absolutely enraged to hear that Harry's aunt and uncle had been lying to him for ten years. He informed Harry that his parent's were a witch and a wizard and that they did not die in a car accident; a powerful, evil wizard had murdered them. And he tried to perform the same killing-spell on Harry, but it didn't work and bounced off Harry to the Dark Lord, draining him of his powers. Harry was the only wizard who had survived the killing curse and was extremely famous in the wizarding world.
After much threatening of his aunt and uncle by Hagrid, Harry was on the train to his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he will feel more at home than anywhere else he has ever been, meet his two best friends and come face to face with his parents murderers.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone is the first book of J.K. Rowlings seven-part story. Harry Potter is evelen years old and has lived with his aunt and uncle since he was one year old. His parents had died in a car accident and they were his only family left to take him in. His aunt and uncle definately prefered his cousin, Dudley. Harry was forced to sleep in the cuboard under the stairs and where Dudley's old clothes. Harry never had any friends at school, because his cousin made sure of it. So when Harry had seen a letter addressed to him when he went to fetch the mail for his uncle he was quiet surprised. But of course his uncle snatched it away before he got the chance to even read it. After he had read the first lines of it, his uncle had gotten a frightened look on his face and beckoned his wife to come look. After she had begun to read and also aquired a frightened look on her face, his uncle kicked Harry and his cousin out of the kitchen. Over the next week or so, a few letters came every day no matter his uncle attempts to stop them from coming. Soon his uncle had a full on nervous break down and assumed the only way to stop the letters from coming, was to leave town. After driving all night and staying in a hotel a few towns away, Harry's uncle was extremely upset to find the sender of the letters had found them. Soon, his uncle decided the only way to get away was to take refuge on an island out in the stormy sea. But that didn't stop the sender, this time the sender sent a messanger who personally informed Harry that he was accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. And at that, Harry would be off in a months time to begin his schooling in wizardry...

If you haven't read Harry Potter yet wake up from you coma and get it in gear!!
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is the first book in the 7 book series. In this book Harry finds out hes a wizard and is taken away from his awful home. He makes friends with Ron and Hermoine and takes on the task of saving Hogwarts from the evil wizard Voldemort and retrieving the Sorcerer's Stone.
This is my least favorite book in the series. Its a little immature and childish but as the series continues it only gets better and better!

This book is truly a masterpeice. Author Jo Rowling truly proves that there are no limits for your imagination. The first of what would soon prove to be one of the most successful book series for young adults this book is, as I said earlier, a masterpeice. It tells a story of a young boy finding a world he never expected , and breaking free of a world he always hated.
