When I started reading this book, I thought the names and the style of life that these people led seemed similar of that of some vikings. The names of the characters: Halli, Aud, Arnkel and Snorri, looked impossible to pronounce. I guess this worked in the author's favour:

1. Because it gave the story a sense of viking, and it enhanced the quality in many ways, trying to keep it close to reality. The Trows also connected with legends.

2. The names also were so obscure, no one would think of using them in their books. I liked this because they weren't boring common names that everyone uses.

I was reading this book at night, and unfortunately for me, I read the scary part right before I went asleep. When Halli and Aud were walking past the cairns, when Aud cut her hand and twisted her ankle, and when they heard the scratching sounds upon some rocks really freaked me out. The way it was written was pretty amazing, and it's awesome suspense hit the bull's eye. When the Trow first attacked, I swear I heard something outside. It was really creepy and full of action.

I think what destroyed this amazing piece of literature was the ending, I didn't like it all. When it was revealed that the Trows were skeletons of long dead relatives, it annoyed me greatly. I think they should of been monsters, and not people. The ending was also confusing because of Svien, and his demise. I really didn't know what happened and I really wished it was better written.

All together, this book is an exciting, action-packed book that is great for 10+ (as long they don't get scared easily)!
