What worked: Beautifully illustrated biography of Lebanese American poet Kahlil Gibran. I loved his book THE PROPHET while in college. This picture book introduces young readers to this famous poet.
Readers learn the early story of Gibran who left his beloved Lebanon and came to Boston. Woven throughout are stanzas of his poetry. The juxtaposition of poetry and bright, vivid colors brings to life his story. As a former first-grade teacher I feel the pacing of this book is perfect for engaging students in the life of Gibran.
Gibran's messages were filled with the hope of bringing people together. His message is one that still resonates today. This picture book shows how things haven't changed much with the differences between the wealthy and immigrants.
Powerful, insightful biography of Kahlil Gibran that is sure to welcome new readers to not only his poetry but his life story.
