The second novel in the House of Night series, Betrayed by P.C. Cast and Kirsten Cast picks up right where the first one leaves off. Not only is Zoey balancing two Sociology classes (because of her unusual circumstances), she has to figure out how to reform the Dark Daughters society. As their leader, and High Priestess in training, it is her duty. Through all this, though, she has to deal with another emotional pang: her now boyfriend, gorgeous Erik Night, is gone to London for a monologue contest. While doing research on her new ideas for the Dark Daughters, she realizes something else, too: she is attracted to the part time Poet teacher Loren. Something here at the school is not right, however. Her principal is telling Aphrodite, Zoeys least favorite person, that the Goddess Nyx has become displeased with Aphrodite and has taken away her visions. Aphrodite knows that Nyx is wrong. She knows something bad is happening to the students, both human and fledglings. And, it is up to Zoey to save her almost-ex boyfriend from being killed. While having to deal with all of this, Zoey finds out that her friends each have affinities for specific elements. However, shortly after receiving her gift from the Goddess, Zoeys friend Stevie Rae dies& her body rejects the change. Everything is topsy-turvy her best friend dead, her tentative friendship with her former enemy, and a betrayal she did not see coming.
Betrayed was just amazing! I had to get my hands on this book immediately after finishing the first novel in the House of Night series, Marked. I just can not wait until I can read the next one, Chosen.
