HOW IT WORKS: SHARK is a clever board book that teaches about sharks in an approachable way. The book peels back a shark layer by layer as it explains some key facts about sharks, the way they move, cool features, how they breathe, and more.
What I loved: A great pick for little ones who love to learn about the world around them and how things work, this board book does a great job of breaking down these complex facts into easily digestible sentences. The images that build/peel back the shark (one side builds, while the other peels back), add to the fun of the journey as children get a glimpse inside. Due to the material and amount of text on each page, this book will work best for older toddlers/preschoolers. Colorful illustrations along the way add to the fun of learning, with a happy shark front and center but plenty of other fish and a mouse with cool facts also appearing along the way.
What left me wanting more: As a very small thing, some of the text can be a bit tough to read, as it is printed in black over darker colors (eg, blue), particularly in low light settings as at bedtime.
Final verdict: HOW IT WORKS: SHARK is a clever board book that teaches curious little readers about the amazing shark. Approachable sentences and a cool buildable shark make this a win for children who love to learn about the world around them.
