This book is obviously going to be compared to Twilight; the parallels are there. Sometimes, I think a certain books popularity can be a good thing there were numerous YA fantasy series after the success of Harry Potter and some of them were quite good.
Hush Hush is also quite good.  The author listened to the criticism of Twilight and has made some efforts to correct some of the glaring problems.  The bad boy in Hush Hush, Patch, seems to be really bad, maybe a stalker, maybe he attacked a girl with a flashlight. Patch could take a sparkly vampire with his eyes closed. But he is increasing attractive to Nora, and any female who has ever had a thing for bad boys can see why. Nora also makes efforts to avoid Patch, and there are real reasons why she doesnt tell anyone about Patch, even when everyone is warning her to stay away from him.
The pacing is well done, the book moves right along. Most of the characters are well depicted; I loved Noras quirky friend Vee. I think Nora could have been fleshed out a bit more, I didnt quite understand why someone as fun and funny as Vee would hang out with Nora.
I enjoyed this book enough to watch for other books by this author.
