I Am A Rock is a very creative look at the different seasons, sounds and colors of nature, and other sensations.
Pauloosie is snuggling in bed with his pet rock, Miki Rock. He asks his Anaana (mother) what rocks would sound like if they could talk, what the rock would hear, and what the rock would feel. The lyrical text features descriptions that aren't too vivid, but just enough to let young ones' minds explore on conjure their own sounds.
The artwork is stunning. Truly evoking the sights and sounds of the Arctic seasons and native animals, as well as showing the cozy bedroom of a little boy.
I love the use of Inuktitut words and the added glossary and pronunciation guide featured in the back.
