I'LL LOVE YOU TILL THE COWS COME HOME is a silly and sweet take on the children's book trope of unconditional love. It begins with the declaration that the love will last until the cows come home--from Mars--and it continues with yaks in a fire truck (or Cadillac), sheep on a boat, wolves in a hot air balloon, and so on. It concludes with all of the animals tucked in for a good night's sleep.
The language is soothing, though it will prompt some giggles, and the illustrations are muted while still being fascinating and worthy of a longer look. There are plenty of opportunities for learning in the book's pages--a deeper dive into why some of the scenarios are ludicrous could contribute to some interesting conversations. Although some of the rhymes are a bit forced, I'LL LOVE YOU TILL THE COWS COME HOME is definitely appealing and is a fun bedtime book for its intended age group.
My thanks to the publisher and YA Books Central for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
