It is the saddest/happiest book I think I have ever read; and it's beautiful all at the same time.

Can I just say, I love body instruments and that this is the smoothest played-out book I've read in a long while. Seriously; and no, I am not going to compare it to a baby's bottom--though it would be strangely accurate. Just going through Mia's memories and experiences spent with her closest and state-side loved ones is so comparable to my own that, I'm thinkin' the author knows her readers--she knows what might frustrate a girl her whole life without anyone else knowing it. If I Stay radiates so much feeling--whether it be love, lust, friendship, kinship, or that powerful feeling she gets during performances--when Mia goes over different points of her life.

If I Stay is definitely going into My Favorite Pile. It's witty, familiar, and sincere in so many ways, that it will not disappoint you. I seriously wish that more YA authors could have that connection between reader and character. If I Stay makes you think more curiously about the eternal questions we all struggle to answer, even if it is not up to us: Live or Die? The pros and cons. Why me? Makes you think how secure and stable you really are living and being in your own life.

This book was great. i dont even think words can describe it. i loved it. it was cool seeing through the eyes of a ghost, who has to make a very big desision: to stay with her loving, caring, and amazing boyfriend, or to die, and be with her family. GREAT!!!

Plot:
From inside cover: "Just listen," Adam says with a voice that sounds like shrapnel. I open my eyes wide now. I sit up as much as I can. And I listen.
"Stay," he says
CHOICES. Seventeen-year-old Mia is faced with some tough ones. Stay true to her first love - music - even if it means losing her boyfriend and leaving her family and friends behind?

Then, one February morning Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it's the only one that matters."

I almost made a huge mistake. I almost didn't get this book. Because, it is, quite simply, amazing. Totally and completely. I loved it. LOVED IT!

When I stay follows Mia as she hovers outside her body after a devastating car accident that will leave her life, if she lives, irrovocably changed forever. The book is told from Mia's point of view as she reminices on memories, watches friends and family anxiously await her fate, and decides, ultimately, if she should stay, and live, or join her family lost in the crash.

If I stay was definitely emotional, but it wasn't all sadness. Their was humor, joy, and anger. It was a roller coaster of emotion that only served to bring the reader closer to Mia and her impossible choice.

If I Stay was beautifully written and the characters were perfect. I will most definitely recommend this book to not only teens, but to my mother and other adults.

It was the snows fault. Oregoners
arent used to it. And so a freak car crash kills 17-year-old Mias parents and
younger brother and leaves her in grave condition at a Portland hospital. Mia
has an out-of-body experience and looks down at her own messed-up body: asphalt
abrasions, collapsed lung, brain contusions, orphaned, with a grim and
devastating future ahead for her.

Even with all her loved ones
praying for her in the waiting room, Mia feels like she has nothing left to
live for. So what if she gets into Juilliard with her amazing cello playing? So
what if her wonderful boyfriend, punk rocker Adam, wants her to stay? What is
it all without her adoring family, to be known as the orphan girl for the rest
of her life?

No matter what others want of her,
the decision is Mias alone. Will she let herself go and join her family? Or
will she choose the painful life and an uncertain future?

Calling this book stunning and
heart-rending is no exaggeration. I was literally in tears for the last third
of this book. Gayle Formans characters are so well drawn, realistic yet
intriguing and lovable. After reading this book youll wish you had cool
parents like Mias! I particularly loved Mia and Adam, the unlikely musical
couple: her classical versus his emo-core. Their relationship is not perfect,
but its their imperfectionsand how they get through itthat strikes such a
chord with me, makes me cheer for them through all their hardships.

I wont be surprised if IF I STAY
becomes one of 2009s most talked-about books, racking up the awardsand the
tissues. Dont miss this one, please.
