Momo Gardner is the kind of friend who’s always ready to lend a helping hand. She’s introverted, sensitive, and maybe a little too trusting, but she likes to believe the best in people. PG, on the other hand, is a bit of a lone wolf, despite her reputation for being a flirt and a player. Underneath all that cool mystery, she’s actually quick to smile, and when she falls for someone, she falls hard. An unexpected meet-cute brings the two together, kicking off the beginning of an awkward yet endearing courtship—but with their drastically different personalities, Momo’s overprotective friend, and PG’s past coming back to haunt her, Momo and PG’s romance is put to the test.

If You'll Have Me is an adorable graphic novel by Korean American illustrator Eunnie that shows the ups and downs of falling in love.
College students Momo and PG could not be more opposites and yet they are drawn to each other. Momo is a nerdy people-pleaser who never dated in high school. PG is the cool girl with a player reputation. Momo finds herself crushing on PG and overanalyzing every interaction. Just as Momo is falling for PG her friends plant little seeds of doubt questioning why PG would be with someone like her. Momo and PG quickly learn that communication is the key to any relationship whether it's romantic or not.
What I Liked: Momo is so relatable. The awkwardness and nervousness of her first relationship made me love Momo even more. Her illustrations have a distinct style with expressive characters that instantly captivated me. Although there are more and more books with diverse characters in 2023 If You'll Have Me's diversity felt authentic. Characters of different colors, sexuality, and body types are throughout the book.
What Left Me Wanting More: This was a quick read, but I would have liked to learn more about some of the secondary characters. I hope this means that Eunnie will write more stories based on characters from the book.
Fans of sweet romance graphic novels will love If You'll Have Me.
