BEACH DAY is a simple and cute Sesame Street story. The friends are all heading to the beach, where they find activities they enjoy, such as making sandcastles, searching for seashells, playing with a bouncy ball, and sitting in the shade. Everyone had a great day at the beach!
What I loved: This is a simple story that shows a trip to the beach with Sesame Street characters. Recognizable characters are great for the littlest of readers who will enjoy seeing ones they know. The book includes no more than a sentence or two on each page, which works well for short attention spans. The story gives the highlights of being at the beach with brightly colored and detailed illustrations that capture attention.
The best part about this is that it is part of the Indestructibles series, which is great for infants. It can be chewed, pulled, and whatever else, and it is still easy to clean and safe for babies. As such, the book functions like a toy, and the lightweight nature makes it easy to pack and go, starting a love for reading early.
What left me wanting more: There was not really a storyline through the book, as it basically described activities at the beach. Mainly for adult readability, it would have been nice to have a bit of a story to get into with some main characters. It does tell the story of a trip to the beach but did not fully have that plot feel.
Final verdict: BEACH DAY is a colorful and fun book for babies to explore. Familiar characters and a hands-on format will make this a great pick for the youngest of readers.
