I have heard great, amazing, wonderful things about Sherrilyn Kenyon's books. I just never got around to picking one up.

Then, one of my friend's nephews thrust a stack of books at me one day while I was over visiting, and Infinity was piled on top. So, of course, I dropped everything else I was reading and immediately started this one because I'd heard such great things about it.

And it was okay. I liked it enough that I finished it, but I probably won't rush to read the second one. (Even though it was in that pile of books I'm borrowing).

I'm from Louisiana, so I loved the New Orleans setting. It wasn't overplayed or corny. That is actually how Nola is.

I loved the characters. I cracked up every once in a while at something that Bubba said or a simple obvious teenage boy thought that Nick had.

I loved the Supernatural aspect. LOVED.

I loved Kyrian and his crew.

I loved the zombie video game. (and Eric and Tabitha in all their weirdness).

I very strongly disliked the writing. One of the hardest things I've had to read. It was patchy and confusing and it did not flow well.

This would be a cool movie. And maybe then I'll read the rest of the series.

Nothing frightens me more than rotting, brain-hungry zombies. So color me (unpleasantly) surprised when I realized Sherrilyn Kenyon’s INFINITY is chock full of these undead, oozing monsters. Rather than cringing in fear, however, Kenyon’s witty and action-packed writing had me raucously flipping each page to be sure those moaning freaks got what’s coming to ‘em!

INFINITY is the first book in Kenyon’s Chronicles of Nick series, which focuses on – you guessed it – Nick. Nick Gautier is just your average 14 year-old, attending a prestigious private school on a scholarship, hoping to escape the attention of the preppy meathead jocks who insist on making Nick’s life hell. Turns out Nick is not so average, and there are creatures actually from hell that are out to get him. Nick’s the descendant of one horrendously evil supernatural being, and a number of preternatural powers are trying to prevent Nick from living up to his wicked family legacy. Zombies are just one of many bloodthirsty monstrosities that Nick will have to deal with as his eyes are opened to the paranormal world around him and his place in it.

The Chronicles of Nick are one hundred percent the male-oriented answer to the Twilight and Mortal Instruments series. I know I’m coming late to the party (this book was first published in 2010), but better late than never! With vampires, werewolves, and demons galore, this has all the best parts of an urban paranormal fantasy, but without the overriding love story that gets in the way of all the cool supernatural action. There is a love story in this book, but it’s small, and Kenyon somehow knows pretty well what goes through a guy’s mind when he’s interested in a lady. The setting of New Orleans totally helps with the spooky vibe, and has achieved this vibe so well, I’m second guessing ever going back to the voodoo-loving town!

With Kenyon’s snarky voice, hilarious pop culture references, and demonic hijinks that continue right up to the last page, INFINITY and the Chronicles of Nick aren’t to be missed.

I am not really sure how to separate my thoughts on this book. I was really disappointed in how slow the story was, yet I really liked the concept of the book. I HATED his mothers personality, but I liked the fact that she was a good parent. I really liked Nick, but was unsure of how I felt about his role in the book. I am in constant debate of how I felt about this book as a whole. That is really why I gave this such a low rating.

Nick to me is a character I could get along with. He is a good person who has been raised with manners and morals. I felt emotionally attached to his character. I was so horrified by how he was treated at school not only from the students, but from the staff. He had a lot of injustices shoved in his face. I had a hard time distinguishing his role in the book. I was confused on how he was so important. I think I would have preferred to have more of a background on his “race”.

The one character I loved to hate was his mom. I was strangely put off by their relationship. I understood her need to protect him and all, but I mean she went a little overboard with the emotions and lovey doveiness. I did respect the fact that she raised him to be responsible, have good morals, and use manners. That is also something that was very prominent in my upbringing and something I find pleasure in experiencing around me. I felt that she smothered him way too much. It really took some of the joy out of reading the book.

I really liked the world this book presented. It was so interesting and unique. I found myself really getting into the setting and plot. I liked that the story takes place in New Orleans. It is a city of mystery and fascination. I actually lived about 6 hours from there and reading this story really transported me back home. It was another part of this book that I really enjoyed.

A few of the characters I really enjoyed in the story were Bubba, Kyrian, Acheron, and Simi. They all brought something to this story. Bubba reminded me of Bobby from Supernatural. Every time I read a part of the book about him, I would vividly see Bobby.

I was not taken with this series, but it still has my interest. I am hoping that as the series progress the story will pick up. I would like to see more action, and I would really like to know more of a background on Nick’s “race”. I am also hoping that Nick’s mom takes a step back and loosens her grip on him just a little. It is ridiculous how attached she is.

This book has to be a top top top favourite of mine. The characters drag you into the Dark-Hunter world automatically. Nick's sarcasm has you laughing throughout the whole book, as well as the other characters. Each character is unique in their own way. The story line is one that is so different, yet hooking the moment it begins. This book is great if your looking for sarcasm, humor, action, and just some YA Fiction/Paranormal. Your love of the characters just keep growing as you get to know them more and more, and with Nick, it's love at first sight! Perfect book!

Nicks sarcasm and witty comeback make this book a treat the whole way through. All the characters seem unique in their own way, and each will grab you by the heart and squeeze it until you're forced to love them. The perfect boy book, with smashing zombies galore.
