Always look behind the pages of a book and do not dare to read out loud....

Mortimer is a bookbinder and has passed on his great love of books to his daughter Meggie, but he has never read aloud to her. When a stranger named Dustfinger appears at their home, Meggie's world turns upside down. She soon learns some startling truths --- about her mother's disappearance nine years earlier, and the mysterious book called INKHEART that her father tries desperately to hide at the book-filled home of Elinor, Meggie's great aunt. She learns that the reason Mo has never read aloud to her is because he has a secret, mysterious, dangerous gift --- when he reads aloud, objects and charaters come out of the books --- a skill he discovered when Capricorn, the dark villain of INKHEART, came into the world when Meggie was three. Teresa, Meggie's mother, disappeared at the same time, presumably into the story.

Capricorn uses Dustfinger, who is another character from the story, to lure Mo and Meggie to his hideout village; there Meggie sees a demonstration of her father's reading skill when he brings gold treasure out of TREASURE ISLAND and a young Arab boy out of the ARABIAN NIGHTS. When Dustfinger learns Capricorn's true plans, he helps Mo, Meggie, and Elinor escape over the hills. Mo searches out Fenoglio, the author of the book, and together they devise a plan to foil Capricorn's terrible schemes. But Meggie is recaptured along with Fenoglio, and Capricorn discovers that she, too, has the same magical gift. In a rousing finish, Fenoglio and Meggie find a way to foil Capricorn's plans --- with surprising results.

This is a wonderful book to read I promise you will not even think about stop reading this book!

From page to page from cover to cover you may think it's just a book. A basic old book and that's it. Yet, it's more than that. There is a gift. A gift so special it can lure the story out of it's pages and Meggie and her father, Mo or Mortimer, happen to be the one's with the gift!!! But, that's not all, because of this special gift Meggie, her father, and Meggie's aunt, Elinor soon find themselfs in the mist of this captivating story. Except, this time it's not them who get sucked in the story, it's the charactors who get sucked out of the story and into real life. But when Capricorn, the cruel leader of the story Inkheart, comes up with a very evil plan to destroy Meggie and her family, it's up to them to fix it.

This book was frabjous!!! I loved how Meggie quickly realized she had the power to read things out of books, like her father, Mo. I loved the storyline, it was well-thought. I loved the characters, they were so descriptive, and so fun to be with, to laugh with, to cry with. This book is a must-read for everyone! It's very interesting, long, but fun. It opened my mind to more possibilities to what can happen. This book has inspired me, that one day, I can write something as well, something original and new that everyone will love. I loved everything. I must say though, there are two things I loved the most. One was betrayal. I found it strange, how someone can just betray a person only to be betrayed by the person who told the betrayer to betray the person. The second thing I loved the most... was the bad guys. Hey, without them, there would be no story, no characters, no adventure. Read It. You Must.

This wonderful adventure story by Cornelia Funke is a must-read for anyone. I highly recommend it.

Meggie and her father Mo live a slightly nomadic life, moving constantly for Mo's profession, bookbinding (Meggie calls him a "book doctor"). But Meggie's life gets flipped upside down when an unexpected visitor shows up on their doorstep in the middle of the night. The spell-binding adventure they embark on is certainly one to remember.

Absolutely do NOT pass this classic up!

Inkheart is a book about a girl whos father read her mother into a book, yes into one.

When something is read into a book, something is also read out, and what was read out was the antagonists of the book.

As she and her father try to run from the bad guys, she finds that she is quite special herself.

Inkheart is a book full of magic and mystery. The story is about a young girl, Meggie, her father, Mo, and all sorts of evil that they must face in order to survive. This is a book about book lovers. Not much can be said about this book other than that you must read it for yourself if you wish to understand anything at all about it.
They are making a movie about this book. It is to be released in a year or two, I think.
