Paul Wagner always produces interesting books. This collection of more than 50 short stories and interesting short shorts is no exception. Divided into sections, the stories are ostensibly about ghosts, athletes, romance, pre-teens and the all-encompassing pot pourri section.
The title Jock Jokes is a bit of a misnomer, since most of the stories dont particularly focus on jocks or even joking, for that matter. Some, like Room 13 (reminiscent of an R. L. Stine-type plot) are spooky and surreal, while others are at times poignant, silly, or just plain funny.
All of the stories are quick, short reads, which makes this a perfect book for your reluctant reader. Adults as well as teens and pre-teens could also enjoy the stories. Theres something for everyone in here. I recommend this book for ages 8 and up.
