JOYOUS BLOOMS TO COLOR is an adult coloring book (though it’s appropriate for most ages), featuring beautiful scenes of nature. Several pages also have quotes from writers like Emily Dickinson, Shakespeare, and Emerson, which add heart and inspiration. The different styles used for the quotes are similarly swirly, but they are all still unique. Their inclusion almost makes the coloring book feel like a poem written with love for nature, and this is definitely a coloring book to use on a beautiful day outside.

The pages are thick enough to use watercolor. However, if you’re new to watercolors like I am, you’ll want to be careful of using too much water because the page will dry unevenly and become stiff, though it didn’t bleed through the page. Coloring pencils, markers, and pens are fine, and the illustrator has a helpful note in the beginning of the book with tips on what to use.

The coloring pages are a nice mixture of repeating patterns, unique scenes, specific flowers and insects, and more. The simpler pages are great when you want to relax for five or ten minutes, and the gorgeous nature scenes are perfect when you want to spend a while getting absorbed in something relaxing and creative.

Fans of coloring books and nature should grab JOYOUS BLOOMS TO COLOR immediately. The gorgeous scenes and lovely quotes will have you wanting to use every ounce of artistic ability to make the final product frame or refrigerator worthy.
