Favourite Moments: 'If I could take all the machine guns in the world and bend them into hearts, I totally totally would, even if I got grazed by bullets in the process, which knowing me I probably would, because I'm a little bit of a klutz,...
"Fightology Lesson #8: Relax when the hits are coming because it hurts less." This book is nothing short of phenomenal! As we are introduced to our narrator, Jace Witherspoon, he is travelling from Chicago to Albuquerque---in search of shelter and sanity. Jace is one of the strongest...
"You are so busy being you that you have no idea how utterly unprecedented you are." ~ Augustus Waters My favourite thing about this novel is the way 17-year old cancer survivor Augustus Waters loves the narrator, 16-year old terminally ill Hazel Grace Lancaster. Believe me, it...
"I once read that football was invented so people wouldn't notice summer ending." So begins Catching Jordan. That is a great first line. It pulls you in. You don't have to be a fan of football to feel the absolute weight of that sentence. It's poignant. I...
You would think an arrogant narrator would turn a reader off. But über cocky Sebastian is quickly accepted for who he is. He's the cool guy everybody likes. The smooth operator. He's so suave, in fact, he runs a blog to hire out his hook-up services to girls looking to...
‘People always think there’s this huge hundred-foot-high barrier that separates doing good from doing bad. But there’s not. There’s nothing. There’s not even a little anthill. You just take one baby step in any direction and you’re already there. You’ve done something awful. And your life is changed forever.’ ~...
“The pre-Friday world of school, cell phones, and refrigerators dissolved into this post-Friday world of ash, darkness, and hunger.”~ Mike Mullin, Ashfall Think YOUNG ADULT 'THE STAND', only better. Alex is a fifteen-year old boy. He's home alone when the...
HUNTED comes alive on page one. It engaged me throughout with intrigue and a fast-pace that made the book unputdownable. Although a dystopian, this story was so deeply embedded in a contemporary setting that it became a believable allegory for the issues that teens (we all) face in today's society...
I enjoyed reading this one. Brought me back to my early years and the fear and intrigue that surrounded the Catholic faith I was once a part of.
Don't judge a book by its cover. The one thing that didn't sit well with me about this title was the cover...it really didn't do justice to a beautiful story! I have no problem with the cover in and of itself...just that it doesn't foretell the beautiful story inside....
This is an important book that should be available for teenagers everywhere. You never know who will need it, so it should be readily available to all.
This was my favourite book of 2011. A complete pleasure to read!
