The second book of Ember finds Boon and Lina in the village of Sparks. The reader can certainly understanding both sides of the arguements: The people of Ember need supplies and to be taught survival/ the people of Sparks are suspicious of the newcomers and resent having to share...

The characterizations are very good. Lina and Boon are interesting teens that captivate the reader. The writing seems to help the reader become involved in the mystery of piecing together the clues to escape Ember.
