About This Book:

Based on the nursery rhyme “Five Little Ducks,” this cheerful lift-the-flap book is perfect for sharing a spooky story time at Halloween.

Five little ghosts floated off one day,
over the hills and far away.
Mama Ghost said, “Fly back to me!”
How many ghostlings can you see?

Join five adorable ghostlings on a lift-the-flap adventure through a spooky forest. There’s so much to see as Mama Ghost and her ghostlings float through a pumpkin patch, play peek-a-boo in a misty wood, and explore a haunted house. Along the way, they meet all kinds of friendly, festive animals. But wait—the ghostlings are disappearing one by one. Whatever could they be up to? Lift the flaps to find the ghostlings and discover a fantastic surprise ending.

Delightful & Interactive

Lily Murray’s Five Little Ghosts is an engaging picture book that reimagines the classic “Five Little Ducks” rhyme. The book focuses on Mama Ghost and her unruly ghosts who like to fly away and hide. Readers must lift flaps to find out where the little ghosts are hiding.

What I Liked: The lift and flap feature makes the book engaging for young readers. This story has rhyming and repetitive text that makes it fun to read aloud. I could see this becoming a favorite class read-aloud. There is something delightful about the illustrations, especially the adorable and playful ghosts. Pumpkin patches, scarecrows, and bats are sweet nods to fall and Halloween.

Five Little Ghosts is a charming and interactive read that can be enjoyed beyond Halloween.
