The Light from my Menorah: Celebrating Holidays Around the World is about a boy who goes on a journey around the world to various countries to see how they celebrate different festivals of light.

What I Liked: The different approach that this author took with introducing us to the various holidays through the connection that they all share is a captivating way to approach this topic. Learning the role that light plays in various holidays as well as what celebrations other cultures partake in was an enriching experience.

The images in this story spark interest and joy as you jump from one celebration to another. Light comes along as it travels from page to page going from one item to the next such as when it takes you from the Menorah to the Christmas tree lights. Due to the contrast in colors, the night colors that are used in the background allow for light to shine as it goes across the page.

The author included a note at the close of the book with more information regarding the various holidays that were introduced in this book. This note is well thought out and provides you with a starting point for additional conversations regarding these holidays.

Final Verdict: The Light from my Menorah; Celebrating Holidays Around the World is a bright and fascinating way for children to learn about the role light plays in various holiday traditions. This book is a great way to show how other cultures celebrate their holidays and spark curiosity in young audiences.
