I've always said that Chris Crutcher's books are over-the-top (and, admittedly, great), and his autobiography was no exception. As I read it, I would continually stumble upon passages that I was sure I'd read before...and then I'd realize that they were from Crutcher's fiction. Everything from the poison tooth and the toilet with the seat belt ("Stotan!") to the character of Heidi in "Whale Talk" to the music teacher spanking in Crutcher's short story "Guns for Geeks" was true.
This was a pretty funny book, though it got heavy at times, and occasionally a little preachy. But overall, it was a very enjoyable read.
