L is for Love shows a family traveling throughout Lagos as they sell lemons and learn about the letter L. As they go about the town they are learning about all the things they encounter or do that begin with the letter L. This book culminates in L is for Love with an image of the family.
What I like: Watch as the images come alive as you turn the pages in this book with the vibrant colors on each page. I loved seeing all the various things that begin with the letter L throughout this book as they aren’t the first things you think of when speaking about the letter to children. I appreciate that this book looks to expand the vocabulary of young children by providing them with various words that start with the letter L including things they may encounter regularly.
Something else that stood out about this book is that the setting is a different country. I love how the author incorporated her home country into the story and how we can see a different way of living. I appreciate seeing what a day looks like in other countries and their take on the things we do daily like shopping.
Final Verdict: L is for Love is a cute, fun, and silly book that children ages 3 and up will enjoy reading countless times. Children and adults will add new words to their vocabulary that begin with the letter L. You will have countless examples for when someone asks do you know anything that starts with L?
