Libby and Pearl is a delightful book filled with cuteness and a friendship unlike most!
As you can tell from the cover, the book follows Libby and Pearl’s unconventional friendship. How often do you see a toddler and a pig being best friends? Not so much.. but this book truly made me wish there were more friendships like theirs! I mean, look at that adorable cover! Now imagine a book filled with images even more adorable than that.
All of the photographs in the book were taken by the author herself, who also happened to be Libby’s mother! You can truly tell that the experience of making this book was a joyful one from all the happy smiles Libby has in the photos. Not to mention her adorable outfits, which would sometimes match Pearl’s!
Just from the photos, all the kids who I read this with really enjoyed it. But the best types of books are the ones that they enjoy reading, and the books that I enjoy reading to them. This was one of those. I really appreciated how it really pointed out Libby and Pearl’s differences and how their friendship was still strong despite this. Books that teach children the power of compromising and acceptance are the ones worth reading.
Overall a great, fun read for all :)
