"Life Blossoms Like a Rose in Thorns" is a work of fiction about Smitha, who cannot help but feel disgusted at the way that women are treated as inferiors in Indian society, particularly when it comes to marriage. Smitha vows to defy this even though her mother says, "We can't change the customs society had been accustomed to for years. It takes a noble person to speak out against these evils." Smitha becomes just such a noble person. She marries, and they settle down in Malaysia and have a son named Bhasker and the story begins to follow his life. As the title implies, this story focuses on the beautiful and wonderful aspects of life that occur even in the middle of the dark and painful moments. The characters face many obstacles on their paths to happiness. This could be an uplifting story that might be attractive to people interested in inspirational fiction.

The story is fantastic and thrilling and full of adventures of a young lady who bravely rises agaist the outdated customs that has been imposed on all females by the society in those days in India.Smitha could hardly endure the male dominion that she encounters and so she bravely ventures out to the unknown places to try her fortune at finding a way out when all the doors are closed before her. In her attempts, she succeeds in establishing her own individuality by overcoming the supremacy imposed by her sister's husband to whom her mother has to cringe for support after the death of her father.

The plot is full of interesting incidents of the adventures of Smitha as she goes to a foreign land to work as a teacher. There she encounters a lot of strange things and events. She even gets an opportunity to save the Military ruler by overhearing a hidden attempt to kill the ruler. By saving him, she comes to prominence and gets posted to a high rank that she never dreamed would happen. But a coup-de-etat follows and she had to flee the country before enemies recognise her but nevertheless she has saved enough when she returns to India.

The sea voyage is so interesting as in the steamliner, Bhasker meets a former sea robber and an exciting incident follows.

The second part is so romantic as Bhasker meets Anna , his schoolday's lover and he feels that they cannot be separated again and the true love between them is truly majestic. They marry and live together ,though Bhasker now an established cardiologist, hardly gets the time to spent with her but they stay together till the end.

The story is tragic with the sad death of Prem, Bhasker's younger brother, who dies trying to save the passengers in an air crash that exploded as he was engaged in the heroic attempt.

The plot is filled with adventures, tragic incidents, mystery, romance. A nice story that would be appreciated by all.
