Little Red is such an amazing illustrated story about the classic tale about Little Red Riding Hood. I have been in love with retellings for such a long time and this isn't any exception. The cover is what draws you in in the first place. It is so beautiful and eye catching and it didn't stop there. The amazing black and white pictures with just a pop of red are what really make this book so stunning. I found myself just staring at the pictures for awhile after reading the page and they were my favorite part. This story is captivating and I think children would really enjoy the pictures as well as the story. It's a quick read which is always good for those quick reads or the kids who can't sit still. Red Riding Hood has always been a bit dark, and Little Red is not any different, but I think Bethan does a great job at keeping the illustrations age appropriate. It never gets too scary. The writing didn't get in the way of the illustrations, the combination of both worked really well with each other. I would recommend this book to kids 4 and up, who are fans of fairytales. As for those parents this does end on a good note, so there is no worry for those who like happy endings. Again it is a bit dark so for those parents who would stay away from books like this, I would suggest doing a quick read through of this. Overall I thought this was a really great kids book. The illustrations were beautiful and the story was quick, simple, and to the point. I've given this one 5 stars. I would recommend it to parents or even read it to my nephew.
